Newborn Session
Q: What is a newborn session?
A: I provide in-home, lifestyle newborn sessions. This means I will come to your home and we will capture the beauty of those first couple weeks of welcoming a baby into your lives. This typically lasts about 1.5 hours, but will not exceed 2 hours. We will take it slow enough to allow for feeding the baby as well as diaper changes or other interruptions. Much of what we are documenting is the baby, as well as the entire family and combinations of the parents and siblings with the baby.
Q: When should I begin scheduling a newborn session?
A: As soon as possible. I can only take on a few newborn sessions per month, so if you wait to reach out, I may not be able to fit your session into my schedule. For newborn sessions, I take a $50 deposit to reserve your spot around the time of your due date.
Q: How soon will the session happen after birth?
A: Within the first two weeks of birth. This is the ideal time while baby is still really sleepy and easy to pose. If we wait until after 2 weeks, the baby will be too awake for my signature newborn style.
Q: Where do you shoot newborn sessions?
A: In your home. Typically we stick to the parent’s bedroom and the nursery, although we may use other rooms if the light is particularly beautiful at the time of the session.
Q: What should we wear?
A: I recommend sticking to a color palette that coordinates, instead of wearing matching outfits or all one color. Usually 2-3 colors work best for a small family and 3-5 for a larger family. Don't be afraid of patterns, but put only 1-2 members of your family in a patterned outfit. Neutrals and pastels tend to work best with my light and bright photography style. I recommend mamas wear a dress, to elevate the photos and guarantee that you’ll fit into it more easily postpartum. Baby can dress in a favorite outfit of yours but we tend to take photos of baby swaddled or just in a diaper. I will provide swaddles for your session. You will receive a style guide prior to your session and I am available to answer any questions about what you plan to wear as well.
Q: Will you travel outside of Tulsa to my home?
A: If I am traveling farther than 30 minutes to your home, the total cost of the session will increase.
